A seawater desalination project in Shandong Province, China, uses VONTRON SW series membrane


Project Summary
Involved in the seawater desalination industry, the project requires the effluent discharged to meet the drinking water standards, and satisfy national requirements of "Standards for Drinking Water Quality" (GB 5749-2022). The key water quality indicators cover total dissolved solids (TDS) measuring the content of dissolved salts in the water, hardness, pH value, and microbiology, aiming to guarantee the safety and stability of drinking water. The system uses VONTRON SW series membrane.
Process Flow

System Introduction
phase one project commenced operations in 2013.
Six sets of primary RO systems, arranged in a 192×7 configuration, totaling 1,344 membrane elementsl; designed with a recovery rate of 45% and a water production capacity of 695t/h.
Six sets of secondary RO systems, arranged in a (14:6)×7 configuration, totaling 140 membrane elements; designed with a recovery rate of 85% and a water production capacity of 150t/h.
Performance
The system is designed with a treatment capacity of 100,000 tons / day; the seawater system is maintained by replacement of seawater membrane elements rather than complete set of replacement; overhaul damaged membrane elements and tubes for replacement; test the conductivity of a single membrane tube and compare it with that of the RO water; the conductivity at the nozzles of front and back ends are close to that of the competitor membrane elements.
